GRR Review: Almost In Love by Kylie Gilmore

Almost In Love by Kylie Gilmore is a contemporary light-hearted urban romance, going for rom-com and a bit of "opposites attract".

Ultra-nerd Barry Furnukle (favorite things: birding, smartphone apps, and Irish jig) fell for his neighbor, the pink-hair artist/teacher Amber. When his awesome date of birding and froyo backfired, he landed in her friend zone. Barry's little brother Ian suggested Barry take up acting in the production of Pirates of Penzance, and suddenly Barry has more female attention than he could handle, but not from the woman he wanted. The situation only worsens when Amber's geeky sister Kate came to stay the summer. What's a pirate gotta do for the woman's heart?
Romances generally come in two types... The instant-on type (where couple knew they are for each other but circumstances get in their way), or the slow simmer type (where the couple slowly realizes their attraction for each other). This is the second type, and it's sweet. If you want the nerd to get the girl, read this one. There are some sexy times, of course.

Category: Contemporary

Primary Plot: Nerd wanted to date his artist neighbor but landed in her friend zone instead; he took up acting to regain her attention but is it the right kind?

Overall Rating: 4/5
