GRR Review: Some Like It Charming by Megan Bryce

Some Like It Charming by Megan Pryce left me in a confused mood, as I am not sure I was supposed to chuckle or be annoyed, as I often end up doing eyerolls thinking "who the heck talks like that?" The dialog sounds like something out of some teenage angst CW show than between CEO and his sales champion.

The setup is simple: MacKenzie Wyatt is the only female in the company immune to the company head Ethan O'Connor's charm. Whereas every other female would be drooling and fainting, Mackenzie is sassy and ready with verbal barbs. Which only inspires Ethan to turn up the charm even more. When Ethan has a PR problem, he forced Mackenzie into a temporary engagement: get engaged to him for 6 weeks, and exit with a load of cash (over a million). and in those six weeks, they managed to actually fall in love.

This pretense turned real love trope usually don't start with "war of the sexes" but at least that's something new. On the other hand, the two sounds like teenagers, not adults, when feuding, that the dialog sounds MELOdramatic rather than just dramatic.

Category: Contemporary

Primary Plot: The super-charming CEO fell for the one woman who won't fall for his charm... his nemesis that he's having a fake engagement with for PR purposes...

Overall Rating:  3/5
