GRR Review: Temporarily Yours by Diane Alberts

In a way, Temporarily Yours by Diane Alberts is the quintessential romance formula. it has the meet-cute (two meets at the airport, help each other through things) it has the constant back and forth of meets, breakups, and makeups, and it has the grand gesture leading to the climax and resolution. And of course, it has sexy and naughty times. What made the story special was the often self-referential and self-deprecating jokes like "men like this only exist in romance novels, right?" and how the characters have just enough quirks to be unique without being downright weird.

Kayla Moriarty is heading home without the fictional boyfriend she had concocted to make her family shut up. Then she noticed the ridiculously hot ex-marine in the next seat over, going home. Cooper Shillings is going home for a visit, then he's going to head overseas, and Kayla seems to be the perfect damsel in distress he can help. It'd be a perfect fling before he leaves how can he refuse? Now Kayla and Cooper just need to bluff her entire family... if she doesn't fall for him first.

The FMC, Kayla, cites statistics and rambles when she got nervous and wanted to stay single because her family wanted her to get married. The MMC, Cooper, has an abject fear of public speaking (even getting CLOSE to a stage makes him sweat) but otherwise is super-charming, but he has a wound that he got his best friend killed. So he can't do... relationships, he saw how much it can hurt. So, in a way, they are both perfect for each other, and should never get involved with each other. The perfect setup, eh?
