GRR Review: Where My Heart Breaks by Ivy Sinclair

Where my Heart Breaks by Ivy Sinclair managed to combine romance with a bit of coming of age for a deeper than expected novel.

Kate Spivey partied too hard in her junior year of college, got the wrong BF, who mistreated her, starting her spiral into booze, and even got her pregnant, causing her to lose all scholarships. She had the abortion, but her family will only take her back if she can pass the summer at her aunt's historical Willoughby Inn as a manager trainee without booze. On her way to the Inn Kate had a flat tire and was rescued by Reed Black, the town's reputed manwhore, who's also a handyman for the Inn. The attraction is mutual, yet both were held back by past wounds. Kate had a problem forming relationships again, while Reed had this reputation hanging on his neck like a dead albatross. Yet as Kate and Reed slowly open up to each other, Kate had to decide whether to stand on her own, or allow others to pull her strings forever.

Most romances deal just with love. This one deal with quite a bit more, where the FMC was trying to both figure out her life and fix her reputation. That makes the story quite a bit more than a typical romance.

Category: Contemporary

Primary Plot: Damaged woman had to prove herself working at an inn; befriends the local manwhore (by reputation only); must decide whether to come into her own
