THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS.
While the plot of "Fixed On You" series is nothing out of the ordinary, I daresay this book has some of the most complex romance characters that I've ever read, as both characters have complex psychological issues that are barely healing from, which in a way made them the worst for each other, yet also the perfect pairing for each other.
FMC, Alayna, latched on to obsessive love (i.e. stalking) as a coping mechanism after her parents' death and only extension rehabilitation/counseling and forcing herself not to fall for anyone kept her darker impulses at bay.
MMC, Hudson, has his own problems that as a young rich guy (with one biatch of a mother) he developed a sociopathic tendency where he used his power and status to play with female's emotions, to have pretend girlfriends, but did everything to make them fall in love with him, and discard them later, heart-broken.
Both are recovering from their destructive tendencies. In a way, this pretend affection / real sex seem to be perfect for Alayna and Hudson as long as lines are drawn clearly as neither is going to give more, but from the outside, it is exactly as if both have given into their destructive tendencies... Alayna will end up stalking one of the richest bachelors and be BURIED and RUINED, while Hudson is about to toy with yet ANOTHER girl's heart which will lead to Alayna's stalking. So are these two characters fighting for their own hearts, they are fighting family AND society as everybody expected them to fail, and fail spectacularly. And maybe they can learn to open their heart for real...
If you want even MORE of Alayna's story, there are a few more volumes of this as this couple have to survive a few more challenges.
