Declan DeGraff was of old money in Charleston, then his family went broke, but he clawed his way back and became a billionaire again, but there was one thing missing from his life: the girl that he drove away... Because he had made a promise. The girl was Charlotte Sanders, who lost her mother in Charleston, but she came back to get her degree. Chance put her in front of Declan 10 years ago and they became friends, housemates, then lovers. But he drove her away. Now ten years later, she's going back to Charleston for a sabbatical from her job burnout, and serendipity had put her in front of Declan once again... And it is time for them to learn if they can get past the mistakes they made...
Declan managed to come off as confident, but not cocky while Charlotte "Charlie" was strong yet vulnerable. There were two versions of each character, from ten years ago, and the present day, and they manage to sound different enough. Very much enjoyed this book
