GRR Reviews Breaking Free (Military Romantic Suspense) by Teresa Reasor

Breaking Free, from an author that actually knew military writes VERY differently from the authors who don't know the military. And the result is a plot that managed to be tense, without throwing in military situations, yet still be romantic and dangerous at the same time. However, this particular variation is a bit wordy and long.

Lt. Adam "Hawk" Yazzie was the SEAL team leader when Ens. Brett "Cutter" Weaver was seriously injured and left for dead on a mission in Iraq. And the only one who could have done it... was a fellow SEAL on the team. Hawk's faith in the team was shaken to the core, even as he struggled to figure out who, and why? Zoe Weaver raced to her brother's side as he recovered from his devastating injury that should have seen him paralyzed or dead. It was a miracle that he's recovering without major cognitive damage... just amnesia. Zoe was drawn to Hawk for his strength and support, Zoe nonetheless was reluctant to get involved with a SEAL. Hawk tries to manage the reputation of a SEAL team member by keeping the problem within the team instead of involving NCIS but it backfired and put Zoe in danger...

The characters are somewhat Indecisive, esp. the SEALs, who are taught to think under pressure. Being so undecisive was almost against their nature. On the other hand, this book managed to avoid all the "SEAL abuse" that some authors managed to get SEAL into, like law enforcement, search and rescue, bodyguard, generic badass, and so on. Truly shows that real authors who know military can make military situations tense, instead of creating a generic tense situation and try to insert military into it.
