GRR Reviews Montana Cowboy by Debra Salonen

Montana Cowboy, despite the title, was really about a pretend cowboy , and his love for a girl who raises alpacas boarded on his brother's farm. The love story was fun, if a bit low-stake.

Austen was an up-and-coming politician in Helena, Montana's capital, when a scandal falsely implicated him in misappropriation of public funds and made him many enemies, he was forced to go home to his brother's ranch in disgrace, He was surprised to find a boarder on the ranch, Serena, and her 50 alpacas. Serena left California when a stalker who seems to know her every detail forced her to leave all she loved behind except her dog and her alpacas. When the small ranch nearby she wanted to buy suddenly failed escrow, she had to find boarding for the winter, just as Austen came to visit... Both were very attracted to each other, but both have their mental baggage and could not quite bring their A-game... yet. But soon Serena knew he wanted this Montana not-quite-cowboy (who wears designer jeans on a ranch, then offered to burn them after he landed in alpaca poo?) but when Austen's been cleared and is going back to Helena... Will they admit their love for each other?

The push-pull between the two, i.e. Chemistry was quite good, and the extra details about alpaca rearing were pretty cool. So it's basically down to Austen making a choice: go back to politics... Or make a go at it at real ranch life with the California girl? It's different worlds of a different sort.
