GRR Reviews Thrill Ride (Black Knights Inc. Book 4) by Julie Ann Walker

Thrill Ride merged two romance tropes: motorcycles, and an undercover security team, into a single background. And the idea that an agent would rather sacrifice his own security for the good of everyone else when something he did got him on the burn notice (i.e. kill on sight), was a powerful one. Even more interesting is the only one who managed to find him was... his partner (and lover-wannabe) in the agency, Vanessa! But as you can guess, if she can find him, so can everybody else! Now we got CIA hit teams (in the infamous "black helicopters") and the rest of the Black Knights fighting to stay alive! Sounds tense... Until the final resolution, which is... impossible. And to explain it, I'll have to spoil the ending.

WARNING, SPOILER AHEAD

To throw off the hit team, the Black Knights have to stage Rock's death, in a way that will satisfy the hit teams. Their solution: wire Rock up with squibs (like in movies), have a sniper sneak out and "fake" taking 3 shots at him, spray previously withdrawn blood on the ground, and yell at the leader of the hit team about how screwed up their team is and hopefully they don't notice Rock was still alive while they "verify" they hit the right man.

This is impossible due to the following:

1) Unless they are SFX technicians, they can't be carrying any squibs. Furthermore, the author explained that they used "small packs of C4". C4 cannot explode without actual detonators. And when C4 explode, they don't explode like bullet hits. You can't make squibs out of actual C4. It's not possible. And if you take C4 small enough so it doesn't kill the guy wearing it, you can't put detonators in it.

2) You really believe a bunch of CIA Hitmen can be razzled dazzled into collecting hair, blood, and other samples from Rock, who's NOT dead, without realizing he's not dead? WTF?!

I was rather enjoying the book and see how they're going to get out of this. This scenario is so WTF-No-WAY, I barely finished. This is utter crap.
