Adam is a rather formulaic "contemporary western" romance that featured a stuntman / cowboy returning home to find his female companion when young had grown up to a pretty woman. The grand gesture was cute, but expected. And being first in the series, it left unresolved plot for the other novels to follow.
Stuntman Adam Campbell is going home to his family ranch in Riverbend, TX, but not by choice. He suffered a horrific injury and death of his friend when a stunt that went horribly wrong. He did not expect to see his childhood companion, Bailey Farrell, working at the ranch next to his four brothers. Adam had once liked Bailey very much, but he had to get out of the small town. Now that he's back, Bailey was very different. The gawky teenager is now a beautiful woman, and affection is now a full-blown attraction. When forced into a bet with a rival, Adam asked Bailey to help him retrain. But Bailey had her own heartbreak and divorce that forced her back into town... Does she have room for Adam in her heart?
Really don't feel anything really special here in this romance, nothing particularly memorable, not too sweet, not too tangy, not too spicy. Some of the character decisions seem really childish and immature, like being goaded into a competition for nothing more than bragging rights. Also, it was never really established what made Bailey the best trainer. A thoroughly average read.
