Bargaining with the Bride can be roughly described as a combination of "marriage of convenience" and "doormat FMC found her spine (and a lover)". The FMC was so spineless it's incredibly difficult to finish the book, and the idea that the CEO can be that calculating to practically blackmail her into a marriage (or to take advantage of such) is almost morally reprehensible. I do emphasize "almost".
To recap... Rachael planned her wedding for a long time, even taking back her no-good fiancee several times, after his groveling. Catching him bonking his in-home care nurse when he was supposedly too sick to get out of bed was the last straw, and she ordered him to vacate her home. Except... the wedding is only a month away. Guest lists had been finalized, cake had been ordered, wedding gown... bridesmaid dresses... all done, except a groom. Canceling the wedding is NOT an option, as she was known as the girl to run home with a load of problems for her parents to solve, and neither is taking back the cheating bastard (who, upon moving out, also took the bed, TV, and even the microwave). Enter Rachael's boss, Garret Adams. Garrett runs a computer matchmaking service and he knew something was missing from the algorithms, and Rachael was indispensable. When Rachael wanted to quit due to her marriage situation, Garret offered himself as her groom in a marriage of convenience... If she'll agree to be a test subject with him. However, love cannot be quantified...
Really? FMC would rather go through with a wedding than tell the world her fiancee is a cheating bastard? And what sort of CEO is this that would take advantage of his employee like that? (All the while wooing her and consummate the marriage, by wooing only, of course). And this is not a comedy, even though it's filled with absurdities. At least the push-pull is interesting, else this would have been 1-star.
