GRR Reviews Rough Terrain (Vista Falls #1) by Cheryl Douglas

Rough Terrain is about a second chance regarding a first love, and it involves a child. The push-pull is poignant, as was the meeting of the son.

Wes Davis and Sage Breville planned a life together... Until Sage got pregnant, and her father ran Wes out of town and forced Sage to give up the baby for adoption. Ten years later, Wes has built an outdoorsman store empire, and Sage's father had passed on. And Wes... is going home. He missed his hometown, and he wanted desperately to know his son. Sage was conflicted to see Wes, as he brought back memories and doubts about what could have been. Can Wes and Sage work through those doubts, greet their son, and perhaps... learn to love each other again?

As I mentioned before, the years passed did not erase the love between the two, but life had changed both of them, and how they must reconnect to meet their son was definitely an additional dimension for the main characters, unlike most "simple" second chance stories. The rest of the push-pull was a bit ho-hum, however, as is the part about coming home. In the end, I can only give this book an average rating.
