GRR Reviews SEAL of Approval (SEAL Series Book 1) by Jack Silkstone

SEAL of Approval, while entertaining, still managed to commit one major offense of "SEAL trope abuse". Introducing the SEAL dog barely made up for it, but I guess I liked it more than I hate it.

Mike Saunders is a SEAL dog handler who can't seem to pick the right woman, so much so that his SEAL buddies planned a whole "girlfriend selection course" to test his next love interest. When his dog was seriously injured saving him on an assignment taking down a Narco Cartel baron, he fell for the hot veterinarian that gave his dog a second chance. And the vet rose to every challenge in the selection course... Right up to the point where the drug baron's brother sent an assassination team to take down the people who killed his brother...

Funny, but not very realistic. SEALs raid their own armory and take out military weapons for their own use when not on assignment? Really? And SEALs get outgunned? Where's the rest of the squad or platoon? And got saved by who? But the dog made up for it... for the most part. Still, it's dramatic enough. :D

Category: Romantic suspense / Military / Comedy

Primary Plot: Veterinarian Proved to be the Toughest Girlfriend Material for the SEAL and his partner dog, even when bad guys came after the SEALs

Tropes: Doctor (vet) / patient, protector, kidnapping, woman in peril

Overall Rating:  4/5 (rounded up)
