GRR Reviews Set Aside: Second Chance Series Book 2: by Kelly Collins

Kelly Collins has consistently delivered romantic suspense with her Second Chance series about women getting out of prison and reclaiming their lives as well as fell in love. I've reviewed several books in this series and this one did not disappoint, and may in fact, be my favorite, as it featured a strong female protagonist and slow onion peel of what lead to her going to prison and losing just about everything.

Holly McGrath went to prison knowing exactly what she did... She bought pot hoping to ease her mother's cancer pains, got caught, and did her time. Before she went in, she had a career as a nursing supervisor and a fiancee. Now, she had nothing. Her mother had passed on, her fiancee the doctor had shacked up with another nurse, who had apparently taken her job as well. Holly was determined to get her life back, so she set out to recover her nursing license, and not even Keagan McKinley, one of the handsome brothers on the M-and-M Ranch ran by her friend Mickey and her partner Kerrick McKinley, will distract her from her goal. But secretly, Holly craved the warmth of Keagan's strong arms. Keagan McKinley is the quiet middle brother in the family is helping to transform the M-and-M ranch into a champion rodeo horse breeding, training, and horse boarding operation. He needed no distraction either, but Holly's skittish demeanor brought out all his protective instincts, but only if she'll let him close enough...

As Holly struggles, she'll learn that some people are just jealous enough to ruin other people for selfish gains. And I saw the twist coming a long ways away, but final resolution was totally worth it and you'll probably cheer when Holly gets her revenge. The romance almost faded into the background in the face of all the drama about regaining her life. But it was a rush getting there.
