Texas Millionaire's Runaway Wife was a really angst-y novel about people with... very petty issues and holding grudges.
Cassie owned a bakery and has employees as well as sister and nieces and nephews that need her, leaving her to no life, and no love. In the one time she let her hair down and fell in love in Las Vegas, she married a man who she believed was as far down and out of luck as she was, only to find that he's actually the son of a Texas Mogul and richer than sin, and he wanted to HIDE his relationship with her. She stormed out, swore to never trust another man. A month later, Cassie had to eat humble pie and went back to the one man she swore she never wanted to see again... One of her nieces is diagnosed autistic and needed help... serious financial and institutional help. And he's willing to give it to her, his runaway wife, if she will come back into his life, so he can punish her in the way that she deserved, but secretly he hoped that Cassie will see past his wealth and power, to see the man he really is... But both with betrayal, blackmail, and worse on their minds, is there room for love in their hearts for something that once was?
So basically, she hated him for lying to her... because he wanted someone to see who he is, not what he possessed. And he hated her for running out on him, for holding a grudge because he wanted the truth, and wanted to humiliate and punish her for holding that grudge.
SUCH SHALLOW PEOPLE, even when they loved each other, and both wanted the best for other people, like autistic kids!
This plot reads like someone decided to copy some bad soap opera, as they basically blackmail each other into falling back in love.
