GRR Reviews First Class Voyage (First Class series) by AJ Harmon
First Class Voyage is family drama and multiple couples with over a dozen characters that you really need to read previous volumes to get full effect out of this novel.
Janie and Katy had fallen for the Lathem brothers, Matt and Mark, but even as they struggle to find their place in the big family, the Lathem matriarch Maureen decided to celebrate her wedding anniversary by taking the entire family on a 2 week Caribbean Cruise... that's her, her husband, seven adult sons, their significant others if applicable, five grandchildren, and a mother-in-law... for two weeks of sun and fun island hopping. While Janie had married Matt, Katy had been engaged to Mark for three years... and counting. Maureen is sending pretty blatant hints that she wants wedding bells, even though Katy had still been working through her trauma from her ordeal (in a previous novel). Elsewhere onboard, younger brother Paul, on leave from US Navy SEAL, found an intriguing civilian onboard, who rebuffed his advances, even as he considered leaving the navy and settle down to start a family...
Let's just say Katy and Mark will finally decide about their future... and let's leave it at that. With so many characters, things are a bit jumbled, as if it's a family adventure that just had one novel-sized piece chopped off. There is a beginning, middle, and end if you just follow Katy and Mark, but there's enough extra material to make you wonder about the rest and their relevancy. The push-pull between Mark and Katy was actually quite nice.
