GRR Reviews Trouble (It's Complicated Book 1) by Ann Christopher
Trouble is a "romancing the boss" trope set in a law office but with the brother of the lawyer (same office as fellow intern) as the third guy in a triangle. I find the brother to be too much of a loser and all the characters except MMC to be shallow.
Mike Balwin is a brilliant defense attorney... but his brother is a really... a bit of a loser. No one knew how he managed to graduate, but he always had an excuse. And his brother is pursuing a fellow intern, Dara. But Dara only has eyes for Mike... even though getting friendly with the boss is not something that should be done. Furthermore, Mike is desperate to get on speaking terms with his brother, and getting in between his brother and the girl his brother wants is not going to help that at all. Mike's patience and resolve will be tested... as Dara is just trouble...
So out of the three main characters, Mike's life is the only one that's complicated. He shouldn't do Dara, for both professional and familial reasons, but he wants to. Dara wants her boss Mike, and she's tired of helping out the leech brother who ALWAYS have an excuse on why he screwed up. And the leech... is a leech, NEVER responsible for anything. Sure, the sex is fine, but the characters... uh... sorry. Just didn't feel much ROMANCE or much of a struggle.
