GRR Reviews Rescuing Lacey by Rebecca Heflin
Rescuing Lacey is a contemporary romance between two people hiding secrets from each other but forced to work together for redemption. Pace is a bit slow, and while the background is good, all the hesitations are in their heads.
Photojournalist Lacey Sommers was burned out and traumatized by her previous ordeal/assignment and her boss sent her to Costa Rica as a test... to photograph frogs, with a local babysitter/guide Luke Hancock. If she doesn't ace this assignment, she may be sidelined forever, so she needed to be nice to this gorgeous but overbearing bush pilot/wilderness guide... who turned out to hate her father (and by extension, her as well), even as they find each other very attractive... purely on a physical level. But Lacey's PTSD hadn't been resolved, and Luke's hiding a few secrets of his own. As they each learned that preconceived notions they have about each other are probably wrong, they started falling for each other... but those secrets will hold them back...
The push-pull was fine, but most of the hesitations are in their heads, and the pacing was a bit slow.
