GRR Reviews Unknown (Unknown Identity Series Book by Lexy Timms

Unknown is a contemporary romance that relied upon hidden identities, but the relatively shallow characters and cliffhanger for volume 2 made the reading less than ideal.

Leslie grieved hard when her husband died young due to aggressive cancer at merely 24. Now even her fortune as a bestselling author (under a pen name) could have saved him. It took her months to settle herself enough to move on, and she moved across the country to start over and gained her neighbors as friends. When she decided on a vacation, she brought them along to an exclusive Caribbean island resort that catered to the super-wealthy, which included a handsome actor that she's interested in knowing better. And he has no idea who she really is... but he had his own problems, including an ex who sleeps around town, while blaming him for her infidelity. Can Leslie love again, after burying her true love?

Problems are everywhere as the plot doesn't seem to make sense, or the decisions make no sense. Among them are...

  • Why was this author infatuated with this TV actor anyway? There was no explanation anywhere.
  • Who brings two neighbors, who are barely friends, to exclusive resort island in the Caribbean, even if she's richer than sin?
  • How did the actor's ex track him down to this exclusive resort who caters to super-wealthy? What happened to privacy?

The book ended on a cliffhanger where Leslie basically ran after the ex showed up on the island, intending on "one more chance". Yep, left her two best friends on the island. Some besties they are. ARGH.
