GRR Reviews Virgin for the Woodsman by Eddie Cleveland

Virgin for the Woodsman was somewhat interesting at first glance, and even somewhat romantic, then the logical problems with the plot start to make you "wait a minute, that made no sense..."

Cole killed a man to avenge his sister, and ran for the Canadian wilderness, knowing fully well the price he'll pay. He did not count on two bumbling idiots who tracked him to the right wilderness town. One's an older guy named Cecil, allegedly a private investigator and the other was Abbie, his... assistant. Cole was keeping an eye on them when Cecil got drunk that night and tried to assault Abbie in their camp. Cole had to intervene, but Abbey freaked out then sprained her ankle in her escape attempt, Cole had no choice but to kidnap Abbie and show her his secret lair, where Cole told Abbie his story...

You can probably guess where the story went from here... Abbie fell for Cole, they made passionate love, then realized they had to leave because Abbey's 'boss' is still out there, and by now they'd have called in search and rescue and his hideout would be found... then guess who showed up...

Which has a lot of logical problems...

1) How did they know that Cole did the crime, if he was as careful as he was in committing the murder, doing the vigilante thing?

2) How did these bumbling idiots knew which town in Alaska Cole went to? Why did they go despite apparently ZERO training in wilderness survival? Why THAT case in particular, even if it's the bounty? How do they think they'll apprehend him?

3) How did Cole keep his residence in the woods hidden, if he had to burn wood to keep warm? It'd show up like a beacon on infra-red, not to mention the smoke!

If you can ignore these factual and plot problems, then the book is actually decently plotted and a lot of hot sex. But the idea that they can have an HEA by living under the radar was a bit hard to believe.
