GRR Reviews Diary of Lexi Ashford (Volume 1) by Jessica Sorensen
Diary of Lexi Ashford has a very "British" feel to it, in that it's filled with pratfalls and other comedic situations. However, it also ends on a cliffhanger to make you buy volume 2 for the conclusion of the tale.
Lexi, for lack of better word, is a klutz and a pending disaster. She couldn't wait to get out of Fairville, her small town, and moved to the city. But after one too many disasters, she's jobless and homeless at 26, and forced to move home, with nothing to show except wounded pride. And her town has changed in the eight years she'd been gone... her parents had sold their old house and lived in a loft above the store they bought, and a sleeping bag isn't her idea of homecoming. At least her high school crush, Anders, is as hot as ever. Determined to get her life back in order, Lexi reconnected with her friends, and was roped into going on her friend's bachelorette party in Las Vegas. But after one drunken night, she woke up hungover... and married to Ander's brother, Evan, a guy she barely knew...
And really, the story stopped right about there. The sibling was barely introduced, and for a 'setup' this was taking a VERY VERY long time. While I was charmed at the humor and all the awkward situations Lexi got into, I honestly don't feel the love, romance, or angst. It's as if I'm watching some sitcom with no character arc. Add the cliffhanger, and it's definitely 2/5, including -1 for the cliffhanger.
