GRR Reviews Seducing Summer (The Four Seasons) by Serenity Woods
Seducing Summer managed to layer bodyguard with undercover AND boss/ PA except it's gender-flipped to make for a very interesting twist on the romantic suspense.
Callie Summer is the CEO of Four Seasons lingerie business, and when her PA had to take a long leave, she didn't expect her new PA to be Gene, a GORGEOUS guy, ex-military, and efficient but with a hint of danger. Callie had just broken off with her ex after catching him in bed with someone else, so a little flirting with the handsome PA is perfectly harmless and appreciated. Gene really does type 90 wpm and can do multiple types of shorthand, but he's actually the head of his security firm. Callie's mom is a judge that was getting death threats that extended to Callie as well, and Gene is going undercover to protect Callie because Callie balks at anything her mother suggested. And Callie is every bit as bewitching as the lingerie and other items she peddled. Gene tried to keep things professional, but soon he fell under Callie's spell. When the threat against both judge and daughter escalated, Gene may have to break Callie's heart to protect her from harm...
The ending is romantic but honest, can count as a too-stupid-to-live moment. Fortunately, it was the end, and it did turn out well. And I won't say any more about it except you'll recognize it when you see it. All in all, satisfying, if a bit long. Callie is strong, but not stupid (except that ending), and Gene is undercover, bodyguard, but he can't order her around without breaking his cover. Lots of awkward moments.
