GRR Reviews Special Delivery: BWWM Pregnancy Rom by Tamara Black

Special Delivery, a BWWM pregnancy romance relied on a meet-cute, but no good reason to "handcuff" the couple together other than "being nice". We jump to a different part of the book that was all adventure, no romance, basically 'escape from east coast'. While charming, it's actually a quite mediocre romance.

Stephanie is black, widowed, 9 months pregnant, and craving a double mushroom extra sauce pizza. It's just her luck when her water broke JUST as the pizza arrived, and the delivery boy is a med student, white, and privileged. But Daniel is different, and he seems to sincerely want to help her. She's so grateful, the new baby boy was named Danny. Daniel was smitten with her when he first saw her. Checking up on her was concern... then love. But Daniel is trying to finish his studies, and Stephanie is trying to cope with being a single mother, and a home health care worker doesn't earn that much. Can Daniel help her heal so she can love him?

The book has basically two almost unrelated parts. First part is Stephanie and Daniel fall in love, and second part is Daniel trying to make it back from an assignment to see Stephanie give birth to THEIR baby more than a year later. First part is sweet, the in between parts are okay, but the second part is not romance, but "misadventures in travel" where basically Daniel trying to make it back keep running into problems and have to do crazy things and meet zany characters to keep going. Will he make it in time? There's some additional plot where Daniel's best bud (who's black) matched up with Stephanie's BFF (who's white). The second part is not really romance, so overall I have to give this book mediocre, i.e. 3/5.
