GRR Reviews Mail Order Bride: Susannah's Story (Book by Ella Camsen

Mail Order Bride: Susannah's story has a trope plot, and the external threat to the couple's happiness didn't really make sense when explained.

Susannah was a maid for the Davenports, except the Davenports treat her like a slave, with no time off despite promised vacation days, and having all sorts of chores added to her list. She had to cook, clean, launder, dust, and more. When she saw a mail order bride wanted ad in Montana, she jumped at the chance. Even when she learned the ad was posted in error, but the poster did want a writer for his newspaper, she decided she will go anyway. ANYTHING is better than being a virtual slave. // Jared was not planning to get married, and apparently, it was his mother that posted the ad. He will need a lady's touch at the newspaper. However, he did not count on an old enemy of his may have followed her to Montana... And now Jared will do anything to protect her... and perhaps... fall in love with her as well.

The threat of "old enemy" really makes no sense. WHY would the bad guy chase him to Montana? To kill him? Torment him? Will nobody recognize a stranger in town? Is this a suicide mission? It sounds dangerous until you stop and think about it! The romance is okay, but the rest of the book is a really "meh".
