GRR Reviews Vodka and Chocolate Drops: A Blueberry by Jean Oram

Vodka and Chocolate Drops is a friends to lovers story, but also about betrayal and recovery. Add some family secrets and drama, and you got a good romance with complications.

Amber Thompson thought she had the perfect boyfriend, a reporter writing a book. Until he dumped her days prior to his book tour and she found on national TV he'd been doing his publicist. Worse, the book was based A LOT on Amber, something she never agreed to. The only one she can count on was her childhood friend Scott. But Scott is allergic to woman on the rebound... and they've been friends for too long. Amber wanted to woo Scott, then she found family secrets that turned her world upside down. Suddenly, she has half-siblings, and her father may be someone she knew all her life... Amber is determined to figure out herself... and then maybe she can woo Scott properly...

The marketing blurb described it as sweet and funny, but there is some serious angst, mostly about embarrassment, i.e. "how can I show my face around here ever again?" But it is interesting nonetheless, and the mood doesn't stay dark. Just beware it's not rom-com.
