GRR Reviews The Farmer's Wife (The Luchettis Book 1) by Lori Handeland
The Farmer's Wife managed to set up a good mystery, but the end relied on two tropes that left me frustrated instead of content.
Kim Luchetti, the youngest child of the family and the only daughter, returned to her Illinois family farm after her father's heart attack. Eight years ago, she left everything behind, believing distance is the only thing that will help her heal from that tragic night. Only one man, her love, Brian Riley, knew her secret, and she had left him behind like everything else. Brian had always loved Kim and when she ran his heart was broken. When she appeared at his farm, he was so surprised he fell off the barn roof and broke both wrists. Kim moved in with him to help him deal with his temporary disability while he heals, and they are forced to confront each other's unresolved feelings, and what was left unsaid that night eight years ago...
Without spoiling the story (much), let's just say she'll do what she did AGAIN, after she basically guilt-ed herself into it. While I enjoy the slow-peeling mystery of what happened eight years ago, the way the stuff was resolved left me frustrated instead of "awww..." All in all the story was "good but flawed" into an average rating.
Category: Contemporary
Primary Plot: Woman went back to her hometown to redeem herself with the only man who loved her, but will it be enough?
Overall Rating: 3/5
NOTE: Tropes are now in the "Labels" below.
