GRR Reviews Seeking the Sheriff (Masterson County) by Calle J. Brookes
The Tylers lived on the outskirts of Masterson County, and Phoebe is the nominal woman of the house. Their mom died a while back, and dad worked every day to keep the large family of kids fed. When Sheriff Joel hauled the rebellious teen brother to them, Phoebe enjoyed the tall and handsome man, but due to the previous sheriff's persecution, Phoebe knew she can't fall for a lawman... // Sheriff Joel Masterson (yes, county's named after his ancestors) knew the entire county depends on him, and he had no time for any trouble from the Tylers, but Phoebe seems to bring out all the protective instincts in him, esp. when he had to transport her to the hospital after her brother went berserk (when his dad basically thrown him out) and the attack knocked Phoebe over, causing her to hit her head. Phoebe enjoyed being in Joel's arms, but she's too busy taking care of the kids, homeschooling them, and do all the chores around the ranch. And the Sheriff is busy busting a drug ring that encroached on his jurisdiction...
Okay, the romance just feels a bit too... insta-love? Though the way the plot managed to wrap around and tied everything together (the rebellious brother, the bully in town the drug problem, AND Phoebe are ALL related somehow, not that I'll spoil you the plot) was masterfully done.
Category: Contemporary / Western
Primary Plot: Sheriff falls for the young woman of the town's "outcast" family, while someone is running drugs into his county...
Overall Rating: 4/5
