GRR Reviews Loving the Texas Lawman by Charlene Sands

Sheriff Jack Walker rescued a boy from a vehicle swept into the creek but was unable to save his parents. The boy had bonded with him, but the state had not allowed him to adopt him outright... yet. // Jillian trusted the wrong man who used her lingerie business as a cover for drug-dealing, but she was able to put the gangster behind bars, yet her reputation has suffered. Her consultants told her to open a store in her hometown, somewhere she hadn't been for a long time, and try to associate herself with Sheriff Walker, once her boyfriend, to revive her image. // The two married for convenience... He needed to project the image of a stable family to adopt the boy, she needed his image to fix her reputation. Yet when trouble seems to have followed her to Texas, can Sheriff Walker protect her? Can they have a real marriage instead of this fake one?

There's a lot of this trope of "let's fake marriage so I can adopt the kid legally", but it's used effectively here. I'm not too sure about the "trouble" bit, as it was resolved with mainly talk, not action. Still, it's a charming tale.
