June and Kase had been neighbors. June's family employs half the town through their upscale resort/hotel, and had been trying to buy out Kase's family farm for years. But Kase left for college 4 years ago, leaving June pining... Until Kase came back. They picked up where they left off, but Kase and June have secrets... their families were intertwined a generation ago, a secret nobody wanted to talk about... that lead to the feud that lasted for years. And unless they share that, their future will always be in doubt...
It's basically a "sins of our fathers" kinda novel, family secrets and drama messing up the present generation. IMHO, it's a bit "meh". The external influences affecting their love was mainly embarrassments and expectations.

Apparently, June's dad married the woman out from under Kase's dad. She died on the day she was leaving June's dad back to the other man. This sort of started a family feud. Meh.
