GRR Reviews The Substitute by Mickey Miller

Superbowl winner Peyton returned to his hometown as the favorite son and new substitute teacher for his alma mater when NFL went on strike. Peyton found the girl he always wanted, Maddy, is now single, and a fellow teacher. Peyton was always the jock, but Maddy had always been with Eric... Until Eric decided to find himself by leaving for a South American backpack tour... alone, ten months ago. Maddy had always been the good girl but Peyton tempted her like no other. Being single, but still shy, she wanted a secret NSA relationship with Peyton... Peyton accepted, and chemistry is electric. When Eric suddenly returned to town and slapped a ring on her finger, will she choose what her heart really desired, or settle for the comfortable and predictable life?

The stereotypical "spineless woman finally growing one" character arc... It works, but it seems to lack that certain spark to make it truly great.
