Blaine is perfectly content to run his bar in the small town. He knew his father is rich beyond belief, and wanted to give him 50 million dollars if Blaine will recognize him but he refused, as Blaine has no use for the money, nor does he want the bother (just imagine people coming out of the woodworks asking him for $$$!). Why should he reconcile with the old man who never showed up? Then Catherine arrived in town... // Catherine had enough misfortunes for a lifetime already. Having her "husband" run off with a stripper he married before her and then be suspected of embezzling from the family company left her no place to go... Until the old billionaire asked her for a favor... convince his bastard son Blaine to reconcile with him. Catherine is a socialite and the small town isn't really for her, but the longer she stayed, the more she and Blaine fell for each other, as Blaine was able to see past her shell, and she showed him perhaps money will not change him. But when Blaine found out who had sent her, is it game over for this couple?
Interesting escalation, and the character arcs are not obvious, but sort of sneaks up on you. It also rehabilitated the character of Catherine, who was NOT a sympathetic character in previous novels in the series. Push-pull is good.
