GRR Reviews To the Limit by Virginia Kelly

Mary Beth Williams just got the worst news of her life: her brother was being held for ransom by terrorists in the remote jungle in the (fictional) country of San Mateo in South America, and she must bring ransom, alone, without the authorities. Being the daughter of a diplomat, she asked around, and there is one guy who can help... Nicholas Romero, renowned negotiator, and diplomat, who had successfully negotiated with the same terrorist group before. Finding him is not the problem... Convincing him is... // Nick knew he's not a true Romero. Nick grew up with Daniel, and Vargas' order to assault instead of negotiating killed Daniel, a true Romero, and this he cannot forgive. When Mary Beth came to him, Nick saw a way to entrap Vargas, to bring him down once and for all, and it's clear that Mary Beth's brother has a link to Daniel. But when Vargas' men (the San Mateo military), the US military, AND the local (suspected) CIA liaison are all trying to get their hands on Mary Beth, it's clear there's a bigger conspiracy going on, and Nick has to rely on all his skills to save Mary Beth and her brother from being collateral damage...

Wow, the intrigue and more were excellent. I can guess at what were the brother and Daniel doing together, and there's ruse within ruse, and a good conspiracy plot. The final confrontation was nice, that the romance was almost... secondary. Still, it's an excellent read.
