Thomas is a single father of six young boys in the small town of Thunder Lake. Unfortunately, he's also the prime suspect of his second wife's murder... Shot through the heart. Thomas did his best to provide for the family, who never goes hungry, but the cupboards are bare, and the kids have to do chores at home while he does the heavy chores and fixes cars to make ends meet. The entire town just "knew" he's a murderer, despite the weapon was never found and he was let go for lack of proof. // Angel is a single mother who works for Child Protective Services. She heard rumors that Thomas is an unfit father and decided to combine a vacation with her daughter with a little off-work investigation. Just who is Thomas? And soon, her nosing about means there's a lot more than meets the eye... And instead of to sink him, she's determined to save him... Even if she had to marry him to do it... when someone ELSE called in CPS...
Oooh... Super angst-y, but Thomas's biggest problem is his stubborn pride, which is at UNHEALTHY levels, and he both didn't care and care TOO MUCH about what other people say, and that's a contradiction. Yes, this is one messy character. Basically, he has a life insurance policy on either him and his wife. He got 100K check. But he REFUSED to cash it and use it to fix up his house and buy stuff for his children. In fact, he forbid Angel to spend her own money, and only relented slightly when she insisted "it's to show CPS". In fact, when Angel confronted him about the check, he whipped out a lighter and BURNED THE 100K CHECK. He doesn't seem to understand that people will say ANYTHING about him, and ANYTHING he does will be twisted to fit the narrative. If he cashed the check, people will say he killed her for the money. If he doesn't cash the check, people will say he has a guilty conscience. And it's him and his kids that suffers. Who's the real loser here? All for his **** pride. Respectable, but TSTL.
