Alexandra aka Alex was attacked. She survived, but she shunned all male contact, so much so that her fiancee Todd left her. It's been more than a year, and she's slowly coming back to life, that she didn't flinch when her best friend bought her physical training and self-defense lessons from Carter, who also wanted to date her. And Carter is definitely swoon-worthy, being a hard body and a semi-pro MMA fighter. But Todd, the man who abandoned her at her darkest hour, now wants her back, and the feelings are still there. Both of them want her heart, but only one can save her soul and unbreak her heart.
Survival from the attack and bitter flashbacks are very good. But using retrograde amnesia in the middle feels almost like cheating. 4/5

GRR Reviews My Hot Boss by Betty Shreffler
Emma was betrayed by her BF who suddenly "needed space". On the night she went out for a girl's night out with her BFF she ran into Grayson... but before they can leave, she ended up vomiting on his shoes. Too mortified, she just went home and sulked. A month later, she suddenly found that Grayson is the new head agent of her office... and very interested to pick things up where they left off. But office rival Rachel also wants to bed the boss, and not above spreading vicious rumors. Grayson himself is damaged by upbringing after his father was betrayed by his own wife and taught Grayson to be a vindictive misogynist who only sees women as playthings to be toyed with, but never loved. Emma is tired of hot/and cold attitude from Grayson and wants him to make a decision... one way or another...
Writing is good, and sex is hot, but Grayson's hot and cold attitude is off-putting. Maybe it's because we can't see into his brain to see his thought process. All we can see is how he acts, and it's very... "mercurial". He claims to hate his father, yet he acted just like his father and keep taking his advice. "They always leave you, so you must leave them first." What a bunch of crock. It took a very convenient "crisis" to push him into making a decision instead of simply reacting. 3.5/5

GRR Reviews Fire On The Farm (Second Chance Cowbo by Betty Shreffler
Fire On The Farm tried to present scarred protagonists, but the antagonist arrived late and just didn't feel properly evil (unclear motivations).
Amy Flander lost the love of her life Darryl to a fire, and only the care and training of horses kept her sane and busy. When one lonely night leads her into the arms of Brock Baisdin, she hadn't realized she could feel that much for anyone else. Brock is picky and rich, something that limits his dating pool, but there's something about Amy that made him stop and look twice... For Amy wanted to love, but she denied herself so long she hadn't dared to hope. Can Brock help Amy to love again?
Angst-y, but the resolution was over way too quickly. Brock actually almost got Amy, then someone got in between them (but not who you think) and it didn't really make sense. The way they got back together didn't make sense either.
