 Drew has a job: get the town to sign off on the revitalization plan for his boss. He was definitely not ready to be ensnared in small-town politics involving crazy elders and a mayor playing him like a chess piece. And he definitely was not ready for Carissa, the town's best baker... // Carissa is a small town girl but the pain from losing who she thought was her forever man to who she thought was one of her best friends still lingers. Except that "friend" is back in town and was determined to show up everyone else. // Drew wanted to know Carissa better, but Drew also wanted to advance his career. Are those two goals compatible? Or will Carissa feel betrayed after learning that Drew may not stay? 

As a series starter, the setup was pretty good as it introduced all of the cast while giving them different personalities, yet made Carissa the main character, and set up an "antagonist" as well. There is some sparks flying, so it's not too bad. 3.5/5

GRR Reviews Aloha Hideaway Inn by Elana Johnson

 Stacey runs Aloha Hideaway Inn, a charming B&B in Getaway Bay, Hawaii. She has an excellent garden and she's sure she's doing fine. But when a mega-resort Sweet Breeze opened not far away, she had to check out the competition... and that's how she met Fisher DuPont. // Fisher DuPont worked hard to build his resort, and he's perfectly willing to go undercover boss, to make sure every guest is getting the tip-top service. And that's how he met Stacey. // Fisher and Stacey should be competitors, but they remained friends. But when both were gun-shy about relationships due to prior betrayal, is there any hope of love between them, with a tropical storm bearing down on the island? 

Not bad as a build-up, but some personal issues for Stacey felt like it came out of nowhere. It also tried to setup the characters for book 2, and thus reads a bit... unsatisfying. 3/5

Charles Lawson is the new head of Lawson Steel, and he has five brothers to watch out for and a lot of legacies passed down from his grandfather and father. Their main rival is Maxwell Grayson, who often used underhanded tactics to win bids and almost destroyed Lawson Steel... a while back. Charles is going to take down Grayson once and for all... but Rosslyn may yet change his plans... // Rosslyn can call Grayson uncle, but an estranged one. Her mother was disowned after marrying someone the family did not approve of. Rosslyn took the secretary job for her uncle and it's miserable, but she'll make do... Until Charles' plan took effect... will Rosslyn be the lynchpin for Charles' plan... or its failure point?

There is definitely a lot of family history and stuff to go over, and quite a bit of corporate espionage and conflicted feelings. But somehow, I don't really feel there's a lot of chemistry between the two. It has great polish. The ending was a great twist. 3.5/5

Which seriously restricted him to mostly... his own hands. So he spent most of his efforts on growing his sports equipment empire... and next on the list to acquire is Freedom Cycle. // Katherine has two kids whom she just sent off with her ex (and his new wife) to California for the next two months. She had an annual tradition of going on a "Manhunt", to find a boyfriend for the summer... and break up just before her kids come back. She's also about to become the new CEO of her family bicycle company, Freedom Cycle, when her father retires VERY soon. // Katherine and Greyson met at a club, and the attraction is instantaneous. But neither knew of the other's full identity. Katherine sees Greyson as her perfect summer fling, and Greyson sees Katherine as the only women so far who can take him full-on, and enjoy it, practically "made for him". Then they discovered that he's trying to buy her company, which she won't agree in a million years...

Sex is hot, if in a very cavalier way, and let's just say they seem to enjoy making out in public restrooms more than in beds. It's a bit off-putting at first, until you get into it. 4/5

Faye can't believe she agreed to spy for her brothers and her family company to get dirt on Gavin, a rival billionaire watchmaker. She's not a seductress! But when Gavin is the nemesis threatening to destroy her family legacy, she had to help her brothers bring down the playboy, by wearing a wire and play the femme fatale, with a bit of remote coaching. But why is Gavin so naturally handsome, genuine, and absolutely UNLIKE the playboy she's expecting? A girl can fall for a guy like that... But she's caught between a rock and a hard place... If she goes forward, Gavin will have nothing to do with her. If she goes back empty-handed, her brothers will be furious...

While the revelations at the end made sense, I just felt it wasn't hinted at sufficiently. There could have been hints dropped earlier for Faye that her brothers were hiding things to her detriment. Like Gavin wasn't really even a competitor. Simple mention of his watch's MSRP and some self-reflection (she should know what her watches sells for) would be sufficient. The final revelations almost feel like deus ex machinas. And I don't think she objected strongly enough to be roped into the role. Couldn't they have hired someone else? Why her? And what sort of brothers would "pimp out" their sister like that? Sheesh. Even the brother's motivations were unclear and feel very... PETTY. Book just feels as if it's missing a few things. 3/5

His boss basically told him to come back with a signed contract, or don't come back at all. But one look at Charlie and he's... smitten. But can he balance between his personal goals and his business objective?

Didn't feel much here other than some smooth-talking. The ending feels like a deus ex machina. 2.5/5
