GRR Reviews The Right Guy by Kate O'Keeffe

City girl Taylor is a skeptic, until her bestie dragged her to see a psychic and got a prediction that she'll find "the one" within two weeks, with a very specific description. Now she can't help looking for men with green eyes wearing an orange shirt... Except for one... her bestie's big brother Jake, the infamous womanizer. He does have green eyes, but he wasn't wearing an orange shirt, right? // Jake is the head chef of the hottest restaurant in town, but he'd been kinda lusting after his kid sister's bestie, Taylor, since a kiss they shared as teenagers. When both had to attend a wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Taylor found herself looking for green eyes and orange shirt... while Jake has to decide whether to go after Taylor for real this time, even though his own sister had warned him to stay away from "her girls"...

Ah, the "everyone but you" comedic trope, but very nicely executed. AND it's kinda set in San Francisco. Very enjoyable. I think some plot points like Jake's restaurant's fate could have been handled better.

GRR Reviews Who Is She? by Patricia Kay

Hope was raised by nuns at a convent, with only a locket as the clue to her identity... and she never got until a few weeks ago, when the sister who raised her finally had her effects traced and handed over to her. Moreover, ever since, touching that locket gave her visions... of what may have been... that she is determined to find her family... and to her shock, she found she may be the missing Hollister heiress Elizabeth, missing since she was 1. Now she's on her way to visit the family... // Paul Hollister was adopted, and the loss of his adoptive parents (Elizabeth's biological parents) hit him hard too. Now he helps the family matron Virginia manage the estate, and run his business. Paul knew there were many frauds over the years that claimed to be the missing heiress, and he was sure this "Hope" would just be another fraud. However, Hope proved to be more truthful than he expected, and even he felt an attraction toward her that he can't deny. However, what secrets could Hope be keeping?

The mystery surrounding the identity of Hope was pretty good as you weren't quite sure who's who till the end, though you suspected. However, the investigation was done by third-party, not involving Hope and Paul directly, and somehow it just didn't quite feel that immediately. The darkest hour IMHO was lame though. The grand-gesture was meh too. I liked the mystery well enough, which I am not spoiling. Let's just say, Hope has a certain "gift" that affected her in different ways.

GRR Reviews Sea of Seduction by Jennifer Jones

Sea of Seduction has a weird start, a former surfer champ single dad doing palm reading meets an herbalist who wants to bed this hot surfer single dad that's also a bet between her and her BFF. The story does get a bit better from there as both characters are a bit angst-driven despite the relaxed facade they put up.

Dominic Cortes was once the best surfer in the world until he punched a judge and was forced to leave the surfing world in infamy. He moved to the US and settled in San Diego with his 12-year old daughter, do tarot card fortune telling for a living. His only remaining goal was to surf the ultimate wave off Cortes Bank as a tribute to his father. That plan is in tatters when a young woman, Cordelia "Coco" Bennett, blew into his life. Coco just wanted a reading at first, but there's a connection between her and Dom that even Dom's daughter Lola noticed. Coco is an herbalist that specialized in anti-aging spa treatments, and she and her partners had a bet... that Coco can bed the hot Dom before their fifth appointment, even though Dom never puts out for anyone. But Coco had a trauma she can't talk about, and can't abide Dom surfing the Cortes Bank far from support... It is very dangerous, and Coco had fallen for Dom for real. But what happens when Dom found out about the bet?

The characters are deeper than you first suspect from the initial impression of tarot card reading and herbalist. You'd think this is some sort of hippie new age characters, but that's just the surface. Both characters have deep traumas that formed a part of their psyche and it was NEVER the right time to mention such, which inevitably leads to wrong impression being formed and deeper misunderstandings... The grand gesture was good as well. All in all an enjoyable novel.
