GRR Reviews A SEAL's Secret Desire: Military Romance by Arabella Steedly

A SEAL's Secret Desire threw multiple tropes together, that would have military folks cringing, as it involved SEAL romance, but not just SEAL, but also a taboo subject about the first female SEAL candidate, and a male instructor. The problem is the age of the people don't fit well, and the ending was... well, urgh.

Instructor, 26, lieutenant, assigned to BUD/S, no problem there. That is actually believable.

The problem is the trainee candidate. She's described as Chief Petty Officer, no specific age, and "little sister" to the instructor. In the navy, CPO's generally spend OVER A DECADE in the ranks before they can be promoted to CPO. The fastest on record is 5.5 years, and that's in technical fields. Those who join SEAL but didn't enlist as a SEAL directly... Hmmm... Not sure how this lateral transfer would work at all. She was also unable to defend herself against a fellow male BUD/S trainee. You'd expect a CPO, who'd already spent 5 plus years in the navy, being one heck of a fast riser, and a leggy blonde, would know a few moves, after probably been harassed bazillion times before getting to the SEALs...

Sorry, this made no f***ing sense at all. People trying to qualify for the SEALs are not hacks, esp. not a (fictional) female candidate. Making one of them a "weak" female in need of a SEAL's protection is insulting.

Category: Contemporary / Military

Primary Plot: SEAL BUD/S instructor secretly desires the female candidate trainee, who was like a little sister to him when growing up
