GRR Reviews Next to Me by Jodi Watters

Ali ran away from her abusive husband when he knived her though he had punched her or choked her plenty of other times. She got her husband put in jail, obtained a divorce, and when she got an inheritance, she planned for the day when her evil ex would find her. She needed someone to save her, and then she found Sam. Sam, an ex-army ranger scout/sniper, runs a security business, and his new neighbor is definitely mysterious, but oh so tempting. Ali knew that the law can't protect her... her ex is a lawyer with some... dark connections. And Ali's plan is to seduce the ex-soldier next door to scare away her ex. But when Ali and Sam developed real feelings, will Ali's secret motives destroy all they have built?

A good twist on the "protector/woman in peril" trope. Sam's temper and really hurtful words make him NOT that sweet after he found out. Made a lot more sense than "understanding" guy. The extended resolution, on the other hand, made a lot more sense.
