Christian Carroll is back in his family's Department Store... after five years, just before Christmas. His father is dying fast, and his ex is in charge of the store. Someone is letting go employees to below sustainable levels, and customers are leaving in droves. Asked to go undercover to find the problem, Christian meets Merry, one of the employees. He plans to leave as soon as he found the problem... // Merry can't enjoy Christmas when her evil ex dumped her last Christmas, and now just keep showing up demanding service with his new girlfriend. Merry can't lose her job, not with her family barely hanging on, but she may not have a choice soon. Christian is nice, but she has no time to romance...
I enjoy the twist, and it makes sense within the context of the story (final chance to make amends and all that). But the romance seems a bit... forced. 3.5/5
