GRR Reviews Off the Edge by Carolyn Crane

Lanie thought sending her husband to prison would be the end of her nightmares. She was wrong. She left the US and hid in a seedy hotel in Bangkok, protected by a friendly crime family there. But with her fake passport expired, and no funds other than her singing gig can produce, she's also stuck. And she can feel her husband's henchmen closing in... Can even her host be trusted?  // Peter Maxwell is a language professor teaching a class in Bangkok, but he's also an undercover agent for "The Associates", codename: MacMillan. He's in the city to hunt down a lost superweapon... a stealth laser drone that can take out a single person, or a whole city block. The weapon will be auctioned off. No one knew what the perp looked like... But Maxwell knew the perp's speech patterns. And he will need Lanie's help, voluntarily or not. And in a city where doublecross the norm, the two have nowhere to turn to... except each other.

Nice, good technothriller type plot and great seduction scene where Maxwell did a Robert Langdon. There are many different twists and turns in the plot and a LOT of dubious allegiances. I find the idea of a stealth laser drone slightly lacking in detail and plausibility, but that doesn't distract too much from the overall accomplishments. 4.5/5
