GRR Review: Emily - Come by Chance Mail Order Bride by Juliet James

Emily by Juliet James is below average mail order bride story where things happen TO the protagonist, the eponymous Emily, instead of she doing things about it. The meetcute and the characters at the destination failed to disguise that this is NOT about strong woman, just someone having bad luck given a break.

Emily was almost out of money, and there was no job. After she witnessed a murder, she had to get out of town, and she jumped onto an outbound train and met Emmy-Lou, who ran away from home to be a mail order bride. When Emmy-Lou was intercepted by her aunt, Emmy-Lou wanted Emily to take her place as the bride all the way out at Cheyenne, Montana. But things are not the way they seem in town, but who will end up saving Emily?

To put it plainly, Emily didn't have to do anything except be nice and be the helpless damsel. ARGH! You call this STRONG WOMAN???!?!?!! She made NO DECISION except accept the proposal from the one available guy who's not a creep in this book! That's NOT a decision when there are no other choices!
