GRR Review: Hidden by Kendra Elliott

Hidden by Kendra Elliot started off intriguing, but each shift to the killer's POV interrupted the narrative flow for no reason other than to gloat.

Lacey Campbell was the only one who escaped from the Co-ed Slayer, who killed her best friend. The Co-ed slayer was caught and convicted and died in prison, but Lacy's friend's body was never found. Eleven years later, Lacy is working for medical examiner's office when bones had been finally discovered on an ex-cop Jack Harper's land. Lacy and Jack found each other interesting, and the bones turned out to be that of her missing friend. Is Jack involved? Who is killing the prosecution witness to Co-ed Slayer's trial? Is Lacey next?

At first, I find the book intriguing, as I wanted to find out who the killer is, but the more I read the less impressed I got, as the shift to the killer's POV just interrupts the narrative flow while he basically boasts (to himself) that the cops are all stupid and his grand plan is progressing well. Then there are several of the "too stupid to live" moments where the characters basically did the most stupid thing(s) possible under the circumstances. When you combine them all, you got a half-way decent romance with a pretty lame suspense thriller that was only interesting in a number of b-plots that were wrapped up by the end of the book. And that's why I'm giving it an average mark.

Category: Romantic suspense

Primary Plot: Medical examiner and ex-cop have to find the culprit killing the witnesses that put away the co-ed killer, or be the next victims

Overall Rating:  3/5
