GRR Review: No Ordinary Billionaire by J S Scott

No Ordinary Billionaire by J S Scott started off okay, but quickly fell into trope about how a geeky girl needed to be initiated by an older experienced man. The ending also really made no sense.

Dante Sinclair's family has money, but he never wanted it. He just wanted to be a cop... When he was ambushed and lost his partner in LA, he moved to his vacation home in Maine to recuperate. His doctor turned out to be the young Sarah Baxter, one of the youngest to get MD... but in experienced. Their chemistry is instant, yet they couldn't be more different. Even as Sarah relishes the dominant lover in Dante, her past returned to haunt her. Can Dante rally to unravel Sarah's secrets to protect her?

I am of two minds about this novel. On one hand I like the setting and the chemistry between the two main characters, the cop Dante Sinclair (who's also the billionaire), and Doctor Sarah Baxter, (full MD by age 28). On the other hand, the book quickly falls into trope that Dante is the dominant lover (warning: light bondage and domination scenes in this book) and Sarah is the protected innocent flower (i.e. the geek that never bothered with boyfriend and lovers) that just needed a firm hand to guide her into a proper womanhood. Why Sarah had to leave the Windy City (of Chicago) was revealed later, and the twist that came even later really made no sense and felt tacked-on. It added up to a competent romance, nothing more.
