Hartley Preston has money, prestige, and a handsome boyfriend she'll marry. They were on their way to the top... Except Hartley knew it's a mere mirage. When she made a discovery that turned her world upside down, she escaped to a little coastal town and settled there, to avoid the future she cannot escape from... and met Crew. Crew was haunted by his own past, of a heartache that he had still yet to get over. The couple fit together so well, it was clear they belong together... except for the secrets they are keeping from each other...I am of two minds about this book. The first 4/5th of the book was great, as the MMC and FMC had the meet-cute, then the constant back and forth pull as they helped heal each other. Then something completely destroyed that relationship and the "darkest hour of the soul" moment was so perfect that I was aching to see how the author was going to resolve it... Then I got a such SLOW rise to climax and dragged out ending, not to mention there's a LONG gap between darkest night of the soul and grand gesture and climax I almost gave up on the book, and even when I finish it left me feeling drawn out and tired.
