GRR Review: You Don't Know Me by Faleena Hopkins

You Don't Know Me by Faleena Hopkins tried to mix family drama and price of fame with a bit of romance. Unfortunately, the romance came across is really cliche trope.
Rue found on her 21st birthday that her departed mother had lied about her father... a billionaire who killed himself and left Rue 50 million dollars, and the famous Jack and Sean Stone brothers as the family she never knew. Sean was receptive to the new half-sister, but Jack, wounded by the betrayal of his father, is outright hostile, and called his rocker friend Alec Gabriel, renowned heartbreaker, to seduce Rue and break her heart, to prove this little bastard sister is just a fraud. Little did he realize his rash decision would backfire.
Some romances basically roll out the trope that the female's panties melt when the male's gaze landed on her, even the barest touch would make her go ballistic. Rue fell for the siren call of the rich (and spent money recklessly, and got hounded by paparazzi) as well as the attention of the rocker Alec Gabriel, the chick magnet. Except, as romances demand, Alec fell for the rich girl who just discovered she's rich. Which really makes no sense. And what sort of step-brother would do things like that... Sic a friend on a step-sister for the express purpose of breaking her heart?

As a romance, the book felt incredibly trope-ish. Only by the addition of a proper modern family drama did the book manage to right itself. The idea of the brothers eventually accepting their new half-sister and the girl gets her rock star lover was a bit too happy, but that's that romances promises: happy endings.
