GRR Review About That Fling by Tawna Fenske

About that Fling was a surprisingly complex relationship between a couple who had a fling one night that developed into much much more, even as both parties acknowledge how much damage they had done by hiding things and honesty is actually the best approach.

Jenna is the head PR person of Belmont Health, a troubled HMO where management and labor conflict is about to boil over into a nurse's strike. Jenna's aunt Gertie, a secret romance writer, urged Jenna to take a romp on the wild side, and by chance, she ran into Adam... and they had a great night together, and promised to see each other more. They discover to their horror that Adam is not only the new mediator for the labor dispute at Belmont, Adam is also Jenna's best friend Mia's ex. Mia is pregnant and about to get married to Mark... and Mia is also an employee at Belmont and part of the labor dispute team. Add to that, Jenna's Ex, Sean, also reappeared at that time, and Jenna had a secret she cannot tell anybody... Not Sean, Not Adam... Adam had to confront his feelings for his ex Mia... and her betrayal, along with the bitter divorce and aftermath, even as he wondered if Jenna really knew the whole story, while Jenna struggles to keep her relationship with Adam a secret, as it is technically a violation of fraternization policy. But the more Jenna lied, the worse the situation seem to get... Is there a future between Adam and Jenna?

At times feeling like a sitcom, the emotional highs and lows are far beyond embarrassment, but into almost desperation. It can be funny, but it'd be bleak humor indeed. It is about the personality about not make a scene, not to push issues, not to hurt other people even when one is hurting oneself, only to have it hurt much more later, when you're not even sure to cry or laugh. And that was the best part about this novel... You'd TOTALLY understand the situation... because you'd been there too... maybe not this bad, but you'd know.
