Megan and Prince Stefano had a hot summer fling in Venezuela doing charitable volunteer work, but despite all protections, Megan got pregnant, and Stefano was supposed to go back, join the military, and get engaged. And they lost touch. Ten years later, Megan is a business manager in a top hotel in Spain, and Prince Stefano is... attending. And Megan clearly still has the hots for him... Megan wants Stefano, but knew she doesn't be a royal, nor can she deal with the pressure and the paparazzi. The daughter, Anna, must come first, and the current arrangement is fine. Stefano wants Megan and was initially mad "why didn't you tell me", then was ready to move heaven and earth to make it work. Add some alternate job prospects (i.e. opportunity of a lifetime), parental advice and/or disapproval, and other complications, and it's definitely rough roads ahead for this couple.
The romance is sweet, that they managed to fall in love again after ten years, but this is also the most... incredible part of the story. How can both remain celibate for TEN YEARS? Yet it is... "almost" believable that she was too busy raising her daughter, then busy with her job... But he, the handsome prince? Not even getting anyone into bed? Hmmm... The plot is also slow at time, and only really sped up at the end when the complications started to pile up. Stefano was the one that changed more, as he realized he had more freedom than he first thought. Megan, on the other hand, was slow in realizing how being with Stefano is more advantageous than being without him, even discounting her feelings. For someone so high up in the food chain (she's 2nd in command of a luxury hotel, he's a prince and potential heir) both are surprisingly emotional when they should be logical. That's why this book doesn't get 5/5
