Beautifully Damaged is about two wounded souls coming together. Both had lost parents when young, both are deeply wounded. When comparing wounds, they realized their wounds are actually related, for their parents had played important roles in each other's lives... But that is a mystery that will need to be resolved together. I find the mystery a bit too involved and took away from the romance of the book, and the cover really made little sense.
Ember's mother died in a mysterious car crash when she was three. While partying with her roomie at a bar, and a drunken stranger got a bit too hands-on, she was rescued by a tall, dark, handsome, and tattoo'ed stranger... Trace Montgomery. But Ember had been warned off by many friends that Trace is a player, and Ember was getting over a bad relationship herself. Yet when Trace keeps appearing in Ember's life, she changed her mind about not getting involved, but Trace believed he was not worthy of any relationship for he had failed someone important to him in the past. As they shared their wounds, they found that their past and their parents are inexorably linked together in ways they never suspected.
The plot was deeper than you'd first suspect, as romance turned into a mystery, but the layers got a bit too complicated, and the characters got blurred. Who was killed for what and why? By who? Without any spoilers, I think I'll stop here, but when you got to the end, I think you can agree that the end was a bit confusing.
