GRR Reviews Loyalty and Lies (Chastity Falls Book 1) by L A Cotton

L. A. Cotton specialized in some of the more psychologically complex characters around, not necessarily enough to get into psychology textbooks, but good enough circumstances to force relationships to break or mend. This book is no exception.

Savanah "Ana" Parry moved across the country to get away from her pain, and picked Chastity Falls Academy just because it was as far as she could go. But the small town has a lot of secrets, including the mysterious Jackson, whom she befriended, and for the first time in eighteen months, she felt... something other than the pretend-shell of emotion she displayed to the outside. But the town's secrets will come back to haunt them, and Ana will learn that to love, one must be prepared to lose... a lot.

A lot of readers seem to think that this book is 1/3 of a book. It is NOT. This is a standalone novel. It sets up the stage for the next one because this novel does NOT give you an HEA. Instead, think "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

Ana's emotional trauma was raw, and the seduction (if you can call it that) by Jackson was slow and sensual. The college antics were a bit over the top, and what kind of football team calls itself "The Fallen"? Really? But it is fun to read, but you were hoping the best for Ana... until the end...

Rather enjoyed the book, and I may consider buying the sequel... Maybe.
