GRR Reviews OPERATION: DATE ESCAPE by Lindsey Brookes

Operation: Date Escape is basically a rom-com in book form. And it was uproariously funny.

Kelsie had been escaping from bad dates for two years (ever since her divorce from her douchebag husband) due to her meddling mom and "best friend" Nanci. Her adventures inspired her to start writing a book named Operation: Date Escape, that detailed tactics one can employ to escape from horrible dates, and one of those escapes had her meet Cole, a handsome firefighter. When Cole had to rescue Kelsie out of a tree later (another bad date) Cole was not about to let this hot little redhead out of his life, even if she told him he was "too perfect" to date. Girls often can't handle his dangerous profession, but can't handle his "perfectness"? Really? Cole went on to prove to Kelsie that he's not a perfect man, but good enough for Kelsie. However, meddling mom, shopping and sex crazy best friend, and a house-full of snickering firefighters do not make for a good dating situation. Can Kelsie find it within herself to love someone? Or will Cole be yet another date she had to run from?

If you want to READ a rom-com, this is the book to go for. You'll get tips on how to (not) escape from a blind date that told you to meet him at a strip club, how to escape from a guy who wanted to talk muscle cars and engine displacement, how to escape a guy who wanted to take you skating... Well, not really, but these are great rom-com bad date situations that many of us can giggle about. It's truly LOL at times. And in a way, Kelsie was damaged enough that she cannot recognize the best thing that had happened to her, or perhaps she's fearful that she did not deserve it. Cole was both exhilarated and exasperated at Kelsie's hot/cold approach to love... He knew she wanted him, then started to shove him away. It took a somewhat unconventional tactic and a grand conspiracy to bring them back together for the HEA.

Read this book. You won't regret it if you like romantic comedies.
